Myriad Genetics—Estimate Experience
I led the visual design for the redesigned estimates experience, including a new attestation form and pay-now flow. The creative process involved flow maps, wireframes, and interactive prototyping with user testing groups. Leveraging our design system Primase, we delivered a clear, intuitive UI/UX, and user testing consistently confirmed the experience felt clean and easy to navigate.

The problem
We were redesigning the estimates experience, and early testing showed a gap in the original flow: there was no attestation step. Users went straight from viewing an estimate to paying, with no clear moment of confirming what they were agreeing to.
What we uncovered
Testers hesitated before paying and asked clarifying questions about what the estimate actually covered. They weren’t asking for a missing form specifically, they just didn’t have a clear checkpoint between reviewing and committing to pay.
How it shaped the design
That insight justified adding attestation as its own step. I mapped it clearly between reviewing and paying, then built wireframes and an interactive prototype using our design system so it felt native to the product. Testing confirmed users understood what they were confirming, and the experience felt clean and easy to navigate.
Why it mattered
The redesign closed a real comprehension gap, giving users clarity on what they were agreeing to while giving the business a defensible attestation step, all without adding friction.
Flow Map & Interactive Prototyping
Estimate and payment
Through user testing, we discovered a simpler approach to processing information: patients navigate to a view payment options page, where they can choose to pay now or wait for a bill based on insurance coverage and preference. This mirrors a familiar shopping experience, with a checkout style page to confirm selections.
Pay now
Required fields are marked with asterisks as a visual cue, and the submit button stays disabled until those fields are successfully completed. For legal compliance, patients must also check a box confirming they’ve read and understood the terms and conditions before submitting payment, after which they receive confirmation that their test is processing.
Wait for my bill
The initials field is required and marked with an asterisk as a visual cue. If a user attempts to submit without filling it in, they’re prompted with an error status asking them to enter their initials. Once submitted, the patient receives confirmation that their cost agreement is processing.
